Kind Words

Every mother’s postpartum experience is different, and it is a privilege to be invited into such a tender and transformative time. Here are some kind words from mothers and families I’ve had the honour of supporting.

"Just having Gemma there gave me confidence that I could do it. I wouldn’t be where I am as a new mother without her support."

Hannah, Dee Why

"Being a first time mother I had no idea what to expect. My only reference were the happy pictures posted online, but you don’t know what actually happens behind the screen.

After giving birth I got hit with the baby blues. Hard. I contacted Gemma, a huge mess, thinking I had made a mistake. Without hesitation Gemma came over to my house, I melted in her arms, but her reassurance, listening ear, and warm hugs made me felt at ease.

We made a plan on how she could help me based on my needs. She showed up for me, providing my family with warm, delicious, and healthy meals and snacks (my favourite was her lamb hotpot and healthy brownies!!). She helped me with housework that was consuming me or simply held bubba so I could get some sleep or catch up on things I wanted to do. Just having her there gave me confidence that I could do it.

She was patient and extremely knowledgeable. I often looked forward to her weekly visits because I knew I could relax and rely on her.

The biggest thing I appreciated was the fact that’s she actively listened to everything. I would say things that I wouldn’t remember in my haze and she would follow up, either checking in on me or sending me resources that would help me.

She set goals for me and she is the reason I could get out of my house in the first few days even though I was so anxious about it.

I wouldn’t be where I am in my journey as a new mother without her support. I cannot thank Gemma enough for her help. I highly recommend her services, she is one of the best decisions you don’t even have to think about when there are so many decisions to be made as a new mum.

Thank you, Gemma, truly from the bottom of my heart."

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways on which I live and work, and their continuing connection to Country. I pay my respects to Elders past and present, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
